February 16, 2017 (Thursday) 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM
Brightwater Treatment Center, 22505 State Route 9 S.E., Woodinville, WA 98072-6010
Cider is the fastest growing craft beverage in North America. To support the industry and provide sources of high tannin specialty cider apples and perry pears,
new orchards must be planted & managed, and fruit harvested. Orchardists need education from experienced and informed cider fruit growers.
To support that effort NABC offers a workshop tailor made for the Orchardist wanting to grow Cider & Perry fruit in marine climates. Gary Moulton, MS Pomology & Western Washington Orchardist, will take
attendees through everything they need to know at this one-day workshop, addressing the critical issues for marine climate orcharding of these specialty fruits. Topics include:
• Cider & Perry Varietals (discussion, sampling)
• Soil Fertility and Amendments
• Planning, Planting & Orchard Layout
• Rootstock, Irrigation, Harvest Methods
• Pest Control
• Grafting
• Pruning, Training, & Fruit Thinning
Workshop Registration Fee: $95.00. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
